Collected from actual phone calls. If yours is not here, ring Sian on 0113 496 0182 or send it through the contact form and we will add it.
Yes, for all three dentists. The current wait for a new patient examination is around two weeks, and hygiene appointments are usually available sooner than that. Register online or ring and we will find you something.
Private only. We do not hold an NHS contract and cannot offer NHS treatment or NHS charges to anyone, including children and people who are exempt.
NHS dental access in Leeds is genuinely difficult at the moment. If cost is the deciding factor, it is worth calling around NHS practices and joining waiting lists as well as talking to us. We would rather tell you that than have you find out later.
About 30 minutes, and it is a proper look rather than a glance. If we need x-rays it may run slightly longer. You are told the fee before you sit down and there is nothing added afterwards.
It depends on your risk. National guidance sets recall intervals for adults anywhere between three and twenty four months, and up to twelve months for children. Somebody with healthy gums, no decay in a decade and no smoking may genuinely be fine at eighteen months. Somebody with active gum disease may need three.
We will tell you what interval we think fits and why. If you disagree, say so and we will talk about it.
Yes, always. A partner, a friend or a parent can come into the surgery with you. Plenty of people bring somebody for the first appointment and come alone after that.
No. Most of our patients pay as they go. The plan suits people who want the cost spread and who have treatment often enough for the 10% discount to matter. If it will not save you money we will say so.
Full details are on the fees page.
For anything over £150, yes, in writing by email, itemised, before we book you in. For a small filling we will tell you the price in the chair before we start and you can say no.
Treatment plans over £500 can go on 0% finance over twelve months, subject to status and to the lender's approval. As an illustration, £2,400 with no deposit is twelve payments of £200 and nothing extra to pay.
We can also simply sequence treatment over a year or two so you pay for one thing at a time. That costs nothing and there is no credit agreement involved.
We are not part of any insurer's network, so you pay us directly and claim it back. We give you an itemised receipt with treatment codes on it, which is what insurers usually ask for. If your insurer needs a form completing, hand it in and we will do it.
No. It is far more common than you think, and lecturing somebody who has finally walked through the door would be a good way to make sure they never come back.
We will look, tell you what we find, and sort it in an order that makes sense. A long gap usually means more to do, not a disaster.
We are not going to promise you painless, because nobody honestly can. What we can say is that local anaesthetic works well for the overwhelming majority of treatment, that we use numbing gel before the injection and give it time to work, and that we stop when you ask us to.
Some things are uncomfortable afterwards rather than during, an extraction most obviously. We will tell you what to expect and what painkillers to have in the house.
We arrange intravenous sedation with a visiting sedationist for patients who cannot face treatment awake. It is planned in advance, quoted separately, and you need somebody to take you home afterwards.
It is not available on the day and it is not suitable for everyone, so it is a conversation rather than a booking.
No. Whitening products above a very low peroxide concentration cannot legally be used on anyone under 18 in the UK unless the purpose is treating or preventing disease. Any practice or salon offering it to a sixteen year old for appearance is breaking the law.
Yes, usually from around two or three, and the first visit is deliberately about nothing much: a ride in the chair, counting teeth, a sticker. Examinations for under 18s are £35, and free for children of patients on the membership plan.
Children who need a lot of work, or work under general anaesthetic, are referred to a specialist paediatric service. That is the right place for it.
Ring 0113 496 0182. Outside opening hours the message gives you the number for our out of hours arrangement, which is shared with two other practices in north Leeds. An out of hours emergency appointment is £185, with treatment charged on top.
If you have facial swelling that is spreading, difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing, that is not a dental appointment. Go to A and E or ring 111.
There are two spaces behind the building, reached through the gate on the left, and one of them is a wider bay. Beyond that, Stainbeck Lane has free on-street parking with a two hour limit, and the side streets are unrestricted.
Partly, and we would rather be straight about it. There is one shallow step at the front door and a portable ramp we can put out if you tell us in advance. Reception, the accessible loo and surgery one are all on the ground floor.
Surgeries two and three are up a flight of stairs and there is no lift, which we cannot fix in a building of this age. If stairs are a problem, tell us when you book and we will put you downstairs.
Tell Sian, by phone, email or in person. We acknowledge written complaints within three working days and aim to resolve them within twenty. The full procedure is on the wall in reception and we will post or email you a copy on request.
If you are still unhappy after that, private dental complaints can be taken to the Dental Complaints Service, and concerns about a clinician's conduct can go to the General Dental Council. We will give you those details rather than make you look for them.
Ring and ask. Nobody minds, and it is quicker than reading another page.
