What we do, and what we will tell you about it.

Every treatment below has a fee attached and a caveat attached. We would rather you knew both before you sit down. If what you need is not here, ring us and ask: we refer plenty of work out, and we will say so.

General dentistry

Examination £55 · White filling from £180

An examination here runs to about 30 minutes. We look at the teeth, the gums, the soft tissues and the jaw joint, take x-rays if they are due, and then sit you up and talk about what we found. If nothing needs doing we will say so and book you back in six or twelve months depending on your risk.

Fillings are white composite unless there is a good reason to use something else. When a tooth is borderline we will tell you: some early decay is better kept clean and watched than drilled straight away, and we will show you the image we are basing that on.

The honest bit

No dentist can promise a filling will last a set number of years. A large filling in a heavily patched tooth is doing a hard job. Sometimes the truthful answer is that the tooth would be better with a crown, or that it is coming to the end of its life.

Hygiene and gum health

30 minutes £75 · 45 minutes £95

Marta sees patients directly, so you do not need to see a dentist first for a clean. A standard appointment is 30 minutes of scaling and polishing, with airflow added when staining from tea, coffee or smoking is the main problem.

Gum pockets are measured and written down every time. At your next visit you can see whether the numbers moved, which tends to be far more persuasive than anything we say out loud.

The honest bit

Gum disease is managed rather than cured. Bone that has already been lost does not grow back. With regular cleaning and a decent routine at home the process can usually be stopped where it is, and that is a genuinely good outcome.

Cosmetic work

Composite bonding from £250 per tooth · Veneer from £595

Most cosmetic work here is small and specific: a chipped front edge rebuilt, a peg-shaped lateral built up, a gap closed by a millimetre or two. Composite bonding is usually done in a single appointment, and it can be adjusted or repaired later without starting again.

Veneers involve removing a thin layer of the tooth, which cannot be undone. We photograph you first, show a mock-up, and give you time to think. Nobody is asked to decide at the same appointment.

The honest bit

Composite picks up stain over the years, particularly with smoking, red wine or a lot of tea. Expect a polish every couple of years and replacement eventually. If a perfectly stable colour matters more to you than keeping tooth tissue, say so and we will talk about the alternatives.

Teeth whitening

Home whitening £395, including trays and gel

We scan your teeth, make trays that fit properly, and show you how much gel to load. Most people wear them overnight for two to three weeks. A dentist has to supervise this by law, which is why a salon offering it cheaply is a salon to walk out of.

Sensitivity during whitening is common and normally settles within a few days of finishing. We give you a desensitising gel with the kit, and you can slow the pace down whenever you like.

The honest bit

Whitening lightens natural tooth only. Crowns, veneers and white fillings stay exactly the shade they were made, so if you have any at the front they may look darker afterwards and need replacing to match. We tell people this before they buy the kit, not after.

Dental implants

From £2,400 for a single implant and crown

An implant is a titanium post placed where the root used to be, with a crown fitted on top once the bone has grown around it. Dr Raman places them here and plans every case from a scan, so you see the plan before you agree to it.

The realistic timescale is three to six months from placement to the final crown, longer if the site needs grafting first. You are not left with a gap in the meantime unless you want to be.

The honest bit

Implants are not right for everyone. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and untreated gum disease all reduce the odds of success, and a failed implant is an expensive disappointment. If we think the chances are poor we will say so and talk about a bridge or a denture instead.

Invisalign clear aligners

From £2,950, including refinements and your first retainers

A series of clear removable aligners, changed every week or two, that move teeth a fraction at a time. We scan you, show you a simulation of the likely result, and give you the aligner count and the total cost before you commit to anything.

Most cases here are mild to moderate crowding, or front teeth that have drifted back after childhood braces. Dr Whitfield takes these, and complex cases go to an orthodontist rather than being attempted here.

The honest bit

Aligners only work while they are in your mouth. Twenty two hours a day is the real number, and treatment stalls if you cannot manage it. Teeth also drift for the rest of your life, so retainers are permanent, not a six month formality. Some cases need small tooth-coloured attachments bonded on, which are visible up close.

What we send elsewhere. Complex orthodontics, surgical extractions that need a general anaesthetic, some root canal retreatments and children who need extensive work under sedation all go to specialists in Leeds. We will explain why, write the referral, and stay involved afterwards. Being able to do something is not the same as being the best person to do it.

Spreading the cost. Treatment plans over £500 can be paid across 12 months at 0% interest. As an illustration, a £2,400 implant would be 12 payments of £200 with no deposit and nothing extra to pay: total £2,400, 0% APR representative. Finance is arranged through a third party lender, subject to status. We are not a lender and we earn nothing from arranging it.

Not sure which of these you need?

Most people book an examination and we work it out together. It costs £55, takes about half an hour, and commits you to nothing after that.
